Anything is possible
heart transplant, inspirational story, organ transplant
This past week, Lauren hasn't been feeling well. Throwing up here and there. No temp, or any other signs of a real problem. This happens at times with Lauren due to all the medication she takes. If she doesn't eat or the timing is off on them it will upset her stomach. I need to weigh her everyday to make sure her weigh den's flocculate to much especially if she gains. If that happens it could mean she is retaining fluids, Not good. But the last couple of days her weigh has been dropping.
Lauren had an appointment with her kidney doctor's on Tuesday, so we were heading up here anyway. On Monday we called the heart transplant doctor to tell them what's been going on, we figured if we are in Boston at the hospital they could take a look at her. We were told they will see her after kidney appointment.
Monday night, I told my husband Dean I am not packing a bag. But I had a fear in the back of my mind they could admit her. I was staying positive.
So Tuesday morning off we went, no bags in tow. When we went to see the kidney doctor, we told them how Lauren has been feeling. They ordered blood work to be done before we saw the heart doctor. This way we were ahead of the game. The kidney doctors basically do not make any medication changes or really no action until they speak to the heart dr's. The heart transplant team make all the decisions on Lauren's care.
Sitting in the exam room waiting for the heart doctor to enter we were so nervous. On our ride in, I had to pull the car over twice on the turnpike, Lauren had to throw up. Dr. Dasi came in asked some questions, then looked at some of the lab results that came up already and said the A word. ADMIT.
Tears started to roll down my eyes, thinking "I haven't even recovered from the transplant as far as living in the hospital again". He told us he felt it would be a short stay. We looked at each other and said "it's the Lynne & Lauren show again".
Yesterday was a day of all test, blood work, EKG's, Echo's heart and kidney and stomach. Today more of the same with results at this point, Lauren has a virus plus she was dehydrated. Kidney functions are slightly elevated. One thing effects everything.
We were thinking we might be going home tomorrow, but who knows....
Lauren is feeling better, and she feels relieved she is not in heart failure. So at this time, they are going over everything with her.
I am not even going to get into our feelings about being here, I'm sure you probably all ready can figure that out.
I will update when I know more...signing off from Hotel Brigham's.
