My book Strength in a Heartbeat, Diary of a Heart Transplant will help you understand what life is like living in the hospital on the heart transplant list. Next month will be a year being published, and I couldn't be more prouder of the response I have received. So many people have reacted out to me to thank me for creating this book, to help give them insight of what they may expect on their journey. It has been ranking between 1 or 2 on Amazon under the transplant category. Also it has been receiving 5 stars from all my customer reviews.
If you know anyone going through the process, please refer them to my website, www.strengthinaheartbeat.com
My daughter just received her second heart transplant plus a kidney on May 17, 2018. I have been asked "So when is the next book coming out". At this time I am very busy taking take of Lauren now, but maybe I will consider writing the second volume down the road.
Here is a story, there was a gentleman in the hospital when we were living there. He was placed on the heart transplant list, but he found it to hard to live in the hospital. He left the hospital a couple of times. I gave him a copy of my book to take home to read. After a couple of days he came back and said, "I read your book, and now I'm going to stick it out, if Lauren can do it, I can do it". The next week he received his heart. He told Lauren and I "If it wasn't for the two of you and your book, you saved my life Thank you so much". That is the reason I published it, to help others know you can do this. Yes it is a hard life, but the reward is LIFE.
This is my journal I kept when my daughter Lauren Meizo became sick and eventually ended up needing a heart transplant. When my daughter became ill, I gave up my business designing custom gift baskets to be by her side 24/7. Family comes first. Lauren's health declined to the point that I lived in the hospital in Boston Ma. with her for months on end. During that time, our story will define all the ups and downs of life in a hospital. To sum it up... I have slept in hospital chairs, window sills and couches. Skipped meals and cried from fear. I have become an expert on Lauren's condition. I am a strong advocate that had to make life changing decisions. I am a parent of a medically complex Warrior!!!
Amazing story of reality, strength and love.
